Service bulletins and recalls

Tell owners about a problem and its fix where they already look for parts. A bulletin shows in the catalogs it affects, picks out the parts in the model, and puts the fix parts one click from a request or cart.

Write a bulletin#

  1. In the console, open Bulletins and choose New bulletin.
  2. Choose the type: a safety recall (shown first, in red), a service bulletin or a notice. Give it your bulletin number if you use them, the issue date and a title.
  3. Under What’s wrong and what to do, write what owners might notice, what to check and how to fix it. Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
  4. List the parts affected, one part number per line. They’re picked out in the model when someone opens the bulletin, and their rows in the parts list are marked.
  5. List the parts for the fix, if any: the part number, then a comma and the quantity. These can be parts in the model, kits, or anything on your price list.
    W15-K40
    HW-M12-40, 4
  6. If only some machines are affected, list the serials affected, one range per line (see below).
  7. Optionally, link to the full bulletin: a PDF or a page on your website, starting with https://.
  8. Save bulletins. Catalogs show them the next time they’re opened. Nothing needs republishing.

The console points out affected part numbers that aren’t in any live catalog, and says which catalogs each bulletin will show in.

Serial ranges#

Write one range per line, the way you would on paper:

W1500-0001 to W1500-1199
up to W1500-1199
W1500-1400 and later
W1500-1302

Serials are compared the same way as on the price list: letters and dashes must match, and the numbers are compared by value. A customer who enters a serial in a range sees the bulletin marked Applies to your serial. A serial outside every range doesn’t see it. A serial written differently from the ranges (another prefix, say) still sees the bulletin, with its ranges to check, because nothing can be concluded from it.

With no serial ranges, the bulletin is for every machine that has the affected parts.

Where bulletins show#

A bulletin shows in every catalog that contains one of its affected parts. To limit it, or to post a bulletin about a whole model without listing parts, open Show only in some catalogs and tick the ones it belongs to.

In the catalog, open bulletins are listed above the kits and the parts list, recalls first, then the newest. Opening one shows the full text, picks out the affected parts, and lists the fix parts with their prices and stock, with a button that adds them all to the parts request, the dealer order or your store’s cart.

The catalog remembers the serial a visitor entered, so an owner who comes back sees the bulletins for their machine straight away.

Copy link under a bulletin gives a link that opens the catalog on it, for an email to owners or a dealer notice. On your own website, add #bulletin= and the bulletin’s number to the page’s address. Combine it with a serial (#serial=W1500-0420&bulletin=SB-W15-07) to open it for one machine.

Email the owners it affects#

Email owners under a saved bulletin sends it to the registered owners whose machine is in one of its catalogs and whose serial is in its ranges. You see how many it will reach before anything is sent. Owners whose serial is written differently from the ranges aren’t emailed (nothing can be concluded from it); the count tells you how many there are, so you can check them under Owners. Each owner gets a bulletin once, with a link that opens the catalog on it for their serial.

Closing a bulletin#

Tick Closed and save to take a bulletin out of every catalog while keeping it in the console. Show closed lists them again.

Reports count how many people opened each bulletin, under Analytics.
